The french partridge is normally used for wet flies, the color compared to normal partridges is gray and brown, a decidedly different color than the normal Hungarian partridge.
The feathers of the french partridge are very soft and from the skin feathers of many sizes can be obtained, ideal for tie flies from 16th to 8th largest.
Feathers can also be used to tie dry flies and streamers.
