How tie a terrestrial - Bee

The Bee, Terrestrial an excellent insect for the summer period, is a dry fly. This model is a modified version of the fly that my dear friend Enrico Belloni uses, who like me has the passion to share fly fishing in his blog flyfishingmania.jimdo.com.

Used successfully by Enrico, fishing to go down and skating, I wanted to try it also by fishing to go up in the streams. I normally use it in drop due to the enormous flotation provided by the polystyrene ball and the foam, mounting it on the armrest and placing a small nymph with a 2.5mm tungsten ball at the tip. This hunting fly has given me enormous satisfaction this year, also moving dry fish where I had never been successful before. It is also excellent with Enrico's original method, fly fishing to go down and skating correctly, fish are often seen jumping to catch this big hunting fly, Enrico's project idea is to use a soft hackle as a mallard or pheasant in such a way that when skating is created, the fibers of the feathers move, as if the bee wanted to free itself from the water.

Dressing

Hook: Ami grub barbless 25 pcs #8
Thread: Standard thread 6/0  black
Ribbing: Polyfloss thread 280 Den black
Body: Micro foam 1,5mm yellow o pale yellow
Wings: Crystal flash medium  e Polistirolo white balls
Legs: Female pheasant soft hackles

Fly tying steps

Place the hook on the clamp, tie the assembly wire up to the middle of the shank and fix the black floss wire tightly until the end of the bend.

Tie a strip of foam, about 3/4 mm close to the floss thread.

Wrap the part of foam facing the eyelet and lock, then overturn the remaining foam and lock it too.

Create the typical black lines of the body of the bee with the floss thread

At this point, the polystyrene ball should be firmly fixed using industrial packaging film.

Take 2 crystal flash fibers, bend and tie them to form the wing, we will not now adjust the length.

We fix a pheasant feather behind the ball.

We wrap the pheasant feather.

Once the feather is wrapped we will pull it and cut the ends of the feather to create not too long legs.

Now we can adjust the length of the wing, we didn't do it before because we had to hold it down when feathering.
